Toshiba have closed their DM (Digital Media) arm this week following months of slow sales. This results in the global closure of the Toshiba Projectors brand but they promise to continue supply of warranties and consumables such as lamps.
This is a significant blow for the embattled Japanese IT company which has recently lost their battle with Sony with their Full HD DVD media offering with consumers opting for the more widely available Bluray technology.
With a booming market being taken over by companies such as Epson Acer and BenQ it is hard to believe Toshiba could not carve out a slice.
Sales of Toshiba projectors should cease due to a lack of stock by early September 2009.
