Optoma EH1020 Review

Optoma EH1020 High Brightness Full HD Projector Review

There has always been demand for high resolution projectors for photography, technical drawings and detailed presentations or software packages but the high res projectors were always low brightness projectors made for home theatre or incredibly expensive. Optoma have just released the EH1020 which combines a Full HD 1920x1080 resolution with a 3000 lumen brightness. But what sets the EH1020 apart from the competition is the sub $3000 price point.

You would think they would have to cut some corners but the unit offers everything you may need with a solid 3 year Australian warranty (12months on the lamp) well above many competitors. It offers a 10bit colour processor for better colour saturation. A respectable contrast level of 2200:1 making it ideal for movies, sport, or games in a lit room. And to round it all off it weighs a pretty standard 2.8kg with a carry case included so will perform well as a portable projector.

The inputs are also decent with a HDMI, VGA in, VGA out composite, S-video, and component giving you a good selection. The lamp life is fairly good too at 3000hrs on high brightness and 4000 in economic with a $400 lamp it is quite economical in the long term.

In testing we found the colour reproduction excellent in games, Bluray movies, and even for photographs. The Full High Definition resolution makes it a good all rounder for multipurpose use so whether your after a theatre projector that can handle a bright room or a board room projector for detailed presentations the EH1020 can serve either roll.
