Epson EH-TW6000W 3D Wireless Projector Review

EPSON EH-TW6000W Full High Definition 3D Home Theatre Projector
With Wireless WiHD

The EH-TW6000W is exactly the same projector as the EH-TW6000 but with one major addition:

The EH-TW6000W has done something revolutionary with the first implementation we've seen of the WiHD in a projector. To put it in perspective most laptops use 802.11b/g wireless standards some use the brand new '802.11n' networking standard. WiHD (or 802.15.3c) works at over 20 times faster than even the fastest (current) laptop wireless networking standards.

In basic terms you plug a HDMI lead into the transmitter and you get a lag free Full High Definition image. Full HD 1080P in 2D or 3D without having to run pesky cables.

Where the wireless will really make a difference is in the upgrade market. Many people that had the first projectors installed with the high quality cables of the day will find that composite or component cables fall short of the new bluray players and full HD projectors. Instead of having to tear out cables and have to install from scratch the wireless HD will make an upgrade simple and easy.

Epson have recognised the need for a projector that can handle a room that hasn't been blacked out and they have equipped the TW6000W with a decent brightness of 2200 lumens. this allows it to handle some light in the room as well as giving you a boost for 3D use. Whenever using a projector in 3D mode the glasses decrease the brightness level, so a brighter projector gives you a massive advantage.

The 3D performance on this projector is exceptional. Unlike the cinema and some cheap LG 3D attempts that use the passive glasses the Epson uses active shutter glasses. These give you a better experience where both the foreground and background images stay sharp. The Epson also uses a much faster 3D system than some of the first 3D projectors of 480hz giving you a smoother moving image and a lot more brightness coming through the glasses.

The colour reproduction is excellent with the new D9 LCD panel providing you 12bit colour. Contrast is excellent at 40,000:1 giving you good deep black shading.

Installation is easy with a decent optical zoom of 1.6x giving you the flexibility of having the projector up close or further back and offering a good degree of adjustment. The TW6000W features automatic vertical keystone the screen image is auto adjusted when you tilt the projector up or down. The horizontal keystone is simply adjusted with a slider control above the lens allowing you to have the projector off centre. For the best image detail we would recommend to have the projector reasonably centred. The less adjustment you do the better everything appears.

2D performance was excellent, with deep black shading great colour and a crisp clear high resolution meant a good detailed image. It offers quiet operation and is bright enough for a lit room though will be louder when you have it on the high brightness mode. For good 3D performance we found you should have a fairly dim room but the image quality was very good. The glasses look good, feel comfortable and they include 2 pairs on the EH-TW6000W ($99 each). All in all a great projector with a 2 year warranty, a one year warranty on the lamp and at just $299rrp on the lamps is really cheap to run. Definitely a winner.
