BenQ MP721 Review

The MP721 and MP721c are some of the most economical high performance projectors on the market. With a powerfull 2500 (2200 for the C model) lumen brightness perfect for large screen sizes in heavily lit rooms the MP721 offers an incredible 4000 Hour lamp life on eco mode. Amazingly even with a powerfull lamp they have a 24dB noise level on economic mode and 28dB on normal mode, better than many home theatre models. They feature a detailed XGA resolution perfect for larger screen sizes and detailed pictures, video, or presentations. They also have a 2000:1 contrast ratio giving them the ability to display true black shades and rich dark colours allowing high detail in darker presentations, movies, or home theatre applications.

The unit uses the latest DLP technology with a 5 segment colour wheel eliminating rainbow effects seen in its predecessors (PB6110, PB6210) and some older DLP models.

The image was very good. We found it to be great for both powerpoint presentations, and with movies. The resolution is XGA so even with detailed presentation and larger screen sizes it gives you a nice picture. We also consider this one to be a good multipurpose unit as the colour and contrast are fairly decent. Though you do get a better result with a home theatre unit the MP721 and MP721c can handle a lot more light than a home theatre unit can so if your restricted by the room lighting this is a good choice. The only difference we found between the units is the brightness. The MP721 with the 2500 lumens is better in brighter rooms with natural light coming in while the MP721C has the brightness to easily handle an artificially lit room.

It is relatively easy to carry around with a high quality soft carry case included. It also comes with the required base mounting holes so can be ceiling mounted.
