Acer P7290 High Brightness Projector Review

With more halls and large venues requiring bright projectors Acer have released the P7290 to offer a huge 5000 brightness at a reasonable price. The P7290 is capable of handling bright halls, churches, and boardrooms with a large image size possible due to the brightness levels.

The P7290 runs a pretty standard XGA resolution so will be fine with detailed presentations and a solid contrast level of 3000:1 making it fine for some movies pictures or training videos as well.

Acer have been generous with the input connections with a HDMI, DVI, two VGA's and a VGA output, Composite, an independent Component connection, and S-Video topping it off making it one of the more versatile projectors in the market.

Lamp life is fairly standard at 2000hours on high brightness mode or 3000hours in economic and the lamp cost is around $550 making it about standard for a high brightness projector.

There is a good quality carry case included but this is probably not meant to be lugged around all day from office to office with sales presentations weighing in at about 5.4kg.

The major innovations on the P7290 putting it above the competition is two 3watt speakers allowing for a 20 odd person class room. A fairly unique addition it both vertical and horizontal keystone allowing the projector to be a bit off centre and still give a square image. Noise levels are also quite reasonable for the brightness at 33dB on high brightness and just 29dB on economic mode.

All in all the P7290 is a solid performer with a good picture quality and a decent set of features. Though it is not super light weight it is portable and offers a massive brightness allowing for brightly lit halls, churches and board rooms to get a strong clear image.
