BenQ W1090 Projector Review

The BenQ W1090 is an entry level home theatre projector but still produces a fantastic image receiving top marks for pricing under the $1000 mark. The BenQ W1090 features a very sharp 1080p image with fine pixel spacing making it one of the most detailed images in this price bracket. Contrast is quite good rated at 10,000:1 but still produces deep black levels.

They’ve managed to pack it all into a reasonably small chassis and with a weight of only 2.75kg can be used portably quite easily. The W1090 is also fairly short throw with a throw ratio of 1.15-1.5:1 so can give you a large picture from a short distance for a 2 metre wide image from a mere 2.3m away.

Although they have prices it aggressively the W1090 features a good set of input connection including 2 HDMI’s a VGA, composite and a 5volt USB charging terminal which can be handy to charge 3D glasses or even power a Roku or Chromecast stick.

All in all the W1090 offers a great picture which is impeccably sharp. It performs well with fast moving images making it a good unit for sport and gaming with a good contrasty image for movies. A fantastic first projector.
